Holding Body was my BA thesis exhibit that functioned on three plateaus: as memoir, as collection, and as landscape.  It was displayed in three corresponding parts:  Kinship & Desire, an elaborately constructed cabinet that housed fifty life casts, From a Seamstress (I & II), two full body casts, and The Self Imagined, five small scale encased sculptures.

Within my own personal artwork, I strive to create inventories of objects endowed with layers of personal symbolism.  For this exhibit, representations of the body were used sculpturally to navigate new understandings of identity and lineage and to explore relationships between the body and memory.  Also implemented are the numerous ways in which the body functions as allegory for a spectrum of different ideas including: femininity, genealogy, fragmentation, nature, preservation, portraiture, and the fantastic.
